On Oct. 17th and 18th, 2019, Shanghai hosted the National Commendation Conference for Outstanding Syllabus and the Exchange Seminar. The Executive Vice President of China Association of the Universities for the Aged (CAUA), and Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SMEC) Department of Lifelong Learning attended the conference, together with over 200 representatives from all parts of the country. Shanghai University for the Elderly had conducted a nationwide research into the syllabuses of the universities for the elderly and made a work report on the selection of the universities for their great job in syllabus construction. 67 universities obtained recognition for their excellent work, among which Shanghai University for the Elderly and its Senior Education League got the first prize respectively. Representatives from Shanghai University for the Elderly, Nanjing Jinling University for the Elderly, Shandong University for the Aged, Sichuan University for the Elderly, Guangzhou Elderly University, Tianjin University for the Elderly made keynote speeches. On the sub-forum, representatives are divided into three groups to discuss about the curriculum and syllabus construction. During the conference, there was a prize-awarding ceremony, all the prize-winners came on the stage and took a photo. An exhibition area was set up to display the outstanding syllabuses and our self-compiled textbooks. At last, all the representatives paid a visit to Qinzhou Academy -- the new campus of Shanghai University for the Elderly.
