On October 29^th, 2019, the Director of UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, David Atchoarena visited Qinzhou Academy of Shanghai University for the Elderly (SUE). SUE leaders Li Xuanhai, Xiong Fangjie, Zhang Xing, Ma Xianguo, Lu Ye and directors of functional departments extended a warm welcome to Mr. Atchoarena and had a colloquium together. Yuan Wen the Deputy Director of China Association of Universities for the Aged (CAUA) International Research Center for Senior Education (IRCSE) and Principal of Shanghai Open University, and Xia Ying the Division Chief of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SMEC) Department of Lifelong Learning also attended the colloquium. Mr. Li Xuanhai hosted the colloquium. Mr. Xiong Fangjia introduced to Mr. Atokuna the development of SUE in terms of the history, evolution, scale, philosophy, faculty, curriculum, management and distance education. Mr. Ma Xianguo introduced SUE's participation in the 105^th Governing Board Conference and international symposium in Lebanon on behalf of CAUA earlier this month and the efforts SUE has made in international exchange. Mr. Zhang Xing introduced the development prospects of China's senior education under the strong support of the government. Mr. Atchoarena spoke highly of SUE’s work in the field of senior education and expressed his congratulations. And all the participants had an active discussion on the topic of the curriculum settings and the future trend of senior education. Mr. Atchoarena also visited the IRCSE, the studio and the library, and also observed class of Life Education, Model Performance and Vocal Art.
