IRCSE Leader Attended AIUTA 107th Online GB Meeting

     From 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Beijing time, on March 9th, 2021, International Association of the Universities of the Third Age (AIUTA) held the 107th Governing Board (GB) Meeting online. Experts and scholars from 75 countries and regions around the world attended the meeting. Francois Vellas, President of AIUTA, presided over the meeting. Ma Xianguo, First Vice President of AIUTA and Director of International Research Center for Senior Education (IRCSE), China Association of the Universities for the Aged (CAUA), Wang Younong, Director of CAUA International Liaison Department, Shen Hong, IRCSE Executive Vice Director, et al also attended.

     During the opening session, Mr. Ma Xianguo introduced the progress and achievement of CAUA’s research projects. The research on the Chinese model of elderly education proceeds smoothly, and the English version of the book Study on “Belt and Road” & Elderly Education is expected to be published at the end of this year. Mr. Wang Younong recommended the Dictionary of Elderly Education, which was jointly compiled by Chaozhou Elderly University and CAUA. Prof. Prado (Brazil) showed the attendees AIUTA website and some online courses. Mr. Rodriguez (Colombia) introduced the international conference on “U3As and Lifelong Learning”. Mrs. Amoros made a presentation of the conference “U3As after Covid-19”.

     During the exclusive session, Mrs. Maria, AIUTA Secretary General, presented the list of AIUTA applicants, and all the GB members approved of the application. Mr. Demouy, AIUTA Treasurer, made a financial report. Mr. Camara, President of Senegal U3A, introduced the preparation of the 108th AIUTA GB Meeting and Seminar. The meeting is scheduled to take place in Dakar this November.
     Due to the pandemic, AIUTA meetings and activities have been somewhat influenced. However, all the AIUTA members still strive to explore new ways to develop elderly education. This online meeting lasted about 2 hours and came to an end in applause of the GB members!
