The Plan
Establish a solid maritime route that includes Syria Lebanon UAE to increase volume of trade significantly
Create duty free zones for Chinese products
Acquire/Manage vital ports
Reach out to all the ME for more exports and for political power
Already Achieved
Duty free zone of 60000sqm established in the Bekaa to serve Lebanon, Syria, Irak and Jordan
Another similar zone in progress in North Lebanon. Both zones’ main purpose is to serve as bases for the reconstruction of Syria
Several trade and tourism delegations from China visted Lebanon and held talks with counterparts
Many cultural events are being organized by the Chinese embassy in Beirut to increase the visibility of China
What To Expect
Marked increase in trade exchange between Midlle East countries and China
An active participation in the reconstruction of Syria
The start of tourism exchange. Tourism follows trade.
Increase in political power
What can AUT U3A contribute
It can bridge any gap between Chinese and Lebanese respective stakeholders to increase tourism exchange
It can encourage exchange between Chinese and Lebanese senior students
It is ready to conduct studies on how to foster bi-directional tourism.
